The Fort Worth Opera recently announced its 79th season featuring productions inspired by the women who founded the company as well as the opera’s rich history of promoting contemporary American works.

The season, which is the company’s 79th, will feature two mainstage productions, one early in the season and the other serving as a finale. The first will take place in November 2024, as Mark Adamo’s Little Women will hit the stage at the W.E. Scott Theatre. The second will be in April 2025, as the company brings fully staged opera back to Bass Hall with Gioachino Rossini’s La Cenerentola (Cinderella).

Often given up for dead in recent years, the Fort Worth Opera appears to be in revival mode. A series of miscast executive directors have come and (fortunately) gone, and the company is now in the able hands of Angela Turner Wilson. She is an experienced singer and producer, but perhaps best of all, she is well-known and admired locally.

The vocal cast will include Elizabeth Caballero (soprano) as Mimì, Alok Kumar (tenor) as Rodolfo, Daniel Scofield (baritone) as Marcello, Meigui Zhang (soprano) as Musetta, Michael Colman (bass) as Schaunard and Kofi Hayford (bass) as Colline.
