Auditions

Fort Worth Opera Chorus

Fort Worth Opera holds auditions as needed for members of the Opera Chorus, with auditions generally held each fall. Audition requirements may vary, depending on the needs of each season's productions. For information about upcoming auditions, or to be added to our chorus audition mailing list, please contact Keith Wolfe at (817) 731-0833, ext 12, or at kwolfe@fwopera.org.

Fort Worth Opera Studio

Candidates for the Fort Worth Opera Studio should have completed master's level training, and have participated in at least one additional training program, such as a summer young artist program. Artists with similar experience will also be considered.

Auditions for the Fort Worth Opera Studio will be held in the following locations:

New York City

Screening Auditions  November 22, 2008
Callback Auditions    November 23, 2008

Fort Worth (for singers in Texas or surrounding states)

Auditions                     December 12, 2008

New this season, Fort Worth Opera will be using a YAP Tracker application as the preferred method of requesting an audition. (You do not need to be a paying subscriber to YAP Tracker to use this application form.) Please click here to submit a YAP Tracker application for the Fort Worth Opera Studio. You can view a tutorial on the online application process here.

Singers may also request an audition by email or regular email by submitting a resume, a headshot and a cover letter requesting a YOUNG ARTIST audition. Please specify which location you prefer for your audition. All artists auditioning in New York must be available to sing at a screening audition and, if selected, at a call back audition. Fort Worth Opera must receive all materials for auditions by October 15, 2008. The audition schedule is generally completed shortly after the application deadline, and materials received after that time will only be considered as alternates.

The screening auditions will be a two- or three-minute, Broadway-style audition, and artists should be prepared with five or six selections. Artists may choose which selection to sing first, and they may be asked to sing portions of the additional selections. Based on the screening audition, artists will be selected for a call back audition on November 23. There is a $10 fee to cover expenses for both auditions, and an accompanist will be provided for both days, although you may choose to use your own accompanist. Please do not send your fee with your materials – the audition fee will be collected on the day of the screening auditions.

Materials for Studio auditions will be accepted beginning in August. Materials will be reviewed, and artists who are accepted for a screening audition will be notified by October 31, 2008. Requests and materials for auditions should be sent to:

Keith A. Wolfe, Managing Director
Fort Worth Opera
1300 Gendy St.
Fort Worth, TX 76107

Materials may also be submitted electronically to kwolfe@fwopera.org. Electronic materials may be in .doc (Word), .jpg or .pdf (Acrobat) formats. Please do not email any audio clips!
